Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. - Hebrew: 11:1

From the above scripture we understand that faith gives us access to the things that are invisible….the things of the supernatural….things of the kingdom of God.

Now if this is so…it is imperative to know how to have this faith…! The Bible tells us that …”faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of Christ” Romans:10:17. So it is by hearing from God that we can have faith…..

The benefit from this is that this faith gives us the ‘victory that overcomes the world’ 1John:5:4. Our faith helps us to have victory in all our circumstances. It overcomes the world. So when Jesus tells us “have faith in God”. He is essentially telling us to have His word abiding in us always….For when we do that we will always overcome the world.

Jesus during his time in this world declared His authority over Satan and his cohorts by healing the sick. He made it a part and parcel of salvation. We are able to believe that our sins were forgiven 2000 years ago, but we find it difficult to believe and appropriate the healing in the same manner. In reality both are linked together.

The Scriptures prove this.Mathew 8:16,17 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.”

Isaiah 53:4,5 Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

1Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. Deuteronomy 28:15-69 clearly states that sickness is due to the curse caused by disobedience to the Law.

Galatians 3:13,14 says that we have been redeemed from the curse of the Law. Jesus became a curse instead of us and set us free from every sickness. In Psalms 107:20 God tells that He sent his Word (Jesus) and healed our diseases. Not only has God made provision for our sins but also for our sickness. Praise be to His holy name.

In simple terms prayer is “talking to God”. Prayer is God’s call to intimacy and fellowship. No man can know another unless he spends time with the other. Jesus set an example for us by spending long hours in prayer. He prayed early in the morning, all night, before raising Lazarus, before meals, before taking decisions like choosing His disciples. Since we cannot see Him in the natural, prayer involves faith and the basis of that faith is the Word of God. There are different kinds of prayer and the highest kind of prayer is worship where you let God know how much you appreciate and love Him and His ways.

Righteousness means right standing with God. This position cannot be earned. God made provision for it by introducing a new covenant. Righteousness is imputed to all who believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. Jesus is seated at the right hand of God. That same position is given to all who believe in the resurrection of Jesus. We were in sin and alienated from God. Now we are righteous by the grace of God. It is a free gift of God.
